Lupus Life Alliance is for providing resources and funding that improves the research, and eases the daily burden, care, and treatment of children and adults living with Lupus. Additionally, Lupus Life Alliance allots provisions that support underserved communities, world-wide, through educational and financial resources that promote spiritual, medical, career-focused and family-based, life-changing success strategies and aid.

Prevalence
African Americans are approximately three times more likely to develop lupus compared to other racial groups, but lupus can affect anyone, regardless of race or ethnicity.
Gender Impact
Lupus primarily affects women, with 90% of lupus patients being female. This includes women from all backgrounds, with a higher prevalence seen in African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American communities.
Younger Age of Onset
Lupus tends to impact African American women at a younger age, often leading to more aggressive symptoms. Regardless of age or background, lupus can affect each individual differently.
Disease Severity
African Americans, and in particular African American women, often experience more severe symptoms and complications, such as kidney disease (lupus nephritis). However, individuals from any background can face serious health challenges due to lupus.

Among women, African American women have a higher mortality rate due to lupus-related complications. Access to early diagnosis and quality care are essential for managing lupus effectively, benefiting everyone affected by this disease.
